About this deal

Reaction training lights are training lights with special motion sensors. It is useful to know that there is a lot of difference between the various brands of reaction lights. Most of them have one sensor. Some of them register when there has been movement past the sensor. While others register touch, when you tap the lamp (vibration). And finally, you have the reaction training lamps with multiple sensor functions. Different sensor functions of reaction lamps

With the Reaction X, I find it easy to set the number of the homebase in the app. Because the Blazepod doesn't have numbers on the lamps, you always have to find out which pod is the homebase because it's a different lamp every time. Another small (US-centric) issue: Though I selected imperial as my preferred measuring system when setting up my account, there are metric measurements in the drill descriptions. It will, for instance, tell you to place the pods two to three meters apart. A BlazePod spokesperson confirmed that that the latest version of the app only offers imperial measurements in results and analytics, not drill descriptions. That means you'll need a metric measuring tape or you'll have to convert the measurements to imperial. This is only really important if you want to compare your results over time to see if you improved. If so, you'll need to measure out the spacing so you can set up the pods exactly the same way each time. However, the number of lamps that can be connected at the same time often varies from one phone to another. There are only a limited number of phones that can, for example, switch on 12 lamps at the same time. If you don't have lamps yet, my advice would be to go for 6 lamps, then you are usually safe. How long do the lamps last? And when you're not training or playing for a while, you can of course use the lamps as mood lighting. This will save you some costs for buying a smart lamp 🙂 How much do reaction training lights cost? Most reaction lamps are easy to switch on. Often you only need to turn on your bluetooth connection. Open the corresponding app and switch on the lights with one push of the button.

I wish the app offered videos showing how to do each activity, because sometimes it's hard to figure out based on the written description. For example, for the One-Leg balance, it says to place the pods in a square on the floor, stand in the center, then, "tap out the lit Pod with your raised foot and look for the next Pod to light up." It says to, "repeat until the activity ends without the raised foot touching the ground." I wasn't sure if I was supposed to stay in one place, or if I was allowed to hop around on one leg to tap out the pods. Because two of the pods were behind me, I did hop around, but I wasn't exactly sure if I was doing the exercise right. There are plenty of exercises you can do on your own, but BlazePod is a lot more fun when you're working out with someone else. I recruited my boyfriend to help me test some of the preloaded competitions, and we had a blast. I should note that while many of the single-player activities can be done indoors, you'll need a large, open space for most of the competitions and some of the other drills. My boyfriend and I went to a local park, and in just 30 minutes, we both felt we got a good workout and were dripping in sweat (then again, we live in Florida). Boosting the circuit voltage is done by MT3608 and regulating the 3.3V for NRF24L01+ is done by simple LM1117S-3.3 LDO. Because of the different functions and colours of lights, reaction lights can be used for many different sports. Standard / random mode: This mode has almost every reaction light. You choose the number of pods that should light up at a time to touch.

The Color Catch activity was one of our favorites. You place the pods in a circle and assign each player a color. You then stand in the middle of the circle and when the pods light up, you have to run to tap out your assigned color, then immediately look around for the next pod to light up in your color, and repeat until the buzzer sounds. The person with the most hits at the end of the competition wins.

This way, you can compare what is the best/cheapest choice for you. See also if you need to buy accessories for the workouts you want to do. This will prevent you from spending more money than you had planned. How do you turn on a reaction lamp? At the bottom of the BlazePod app, there are four tabs: Discover, Create, Analytics, and More.In Discover, you can explore BlazePod's preloaded activities. Filters at the top let you narrow down the activity list to find something specific. You can filter by accessories needed, number of players, type of activity, and more.

Because reaction lights are usually pricey, a lot of people are looking for alternatives or are looking for second-hand reaction lights. I would advise against buying second-hand because unfortunately you don't know what your predecessor did with it and you can't look inside the lamps. It is of course all technical electronics and you have to be an expert to see if everything is still intact. Most reaction lamps are also not completely waterproof. Therefore, you never know for sure if you will take them over from someone with possible water damage. The suspension system of the reaction light providers is very variable. For example, the BlazePod cannot be hung up and can only be laid down on the ground. The BlazePod is already very expensive. To be able to hang them up, you have to buy extra accessories for about €15 extra per pod.
