The deeper the shelf, the longer its supports will need to be; for the 6-inch shelf we used 36-inch leather straps, and for the 10-inch shelves we used 48-inch straps. We opted for two 10-inch-deep shelves and one 6-inch-deep shelf for a tiered look, and cut them all to 30 inches long to match the width of the dresser positioned below. To check where to do this, you can hang the leather straps to the wall and slide the plywood into the straps adjusting the wood until it is balanced. You could put one long one or two shorter ones over the bed (above headboard height if you have one) with a lamp on either end and everything else in the middle.

Solid interlocking panels combine to cover the wire shelf and can be assembled to fit 12, 16, and 20 inch depths. Floating shelf with its minimalist modern style can save space, for organize your books, lovely plants or candle, storage spices or coffee cups, makeup or nail polish, or display photo frames and mementos. Just remember, as much as decorative they are, their main purpose is to hold the weight of the shelf and whatever you fancy putting on there ( just don’t put too much).
