I knew nothing going into this book and I’m thankful for that so I’m definitely not going to give anything away. I’ve been on an angst-fest/emotional kick lately so when I saw the blurb for Bright Side, I knew it was a book I wanted to read ASAP. That doesn’t mean I only look at Christian books – it means that I review all types of kids’ books through the lens of my faith.

Keller was living a life pleasing others, never taking his own happiness into account, carrying secrets from his past that weighed him down. It’s kinda funny to me because this book is two years old so most of you have probably read it but still! Kate was a beautiful character inside and out, she was adorable, selfless, giving, trusting, infectious, you couldn’t help but smile and be happy in her company.

Eventually after spending time as friends Keller makes his intentions clear in a very sweet and swoon worthy way. When the child eventually enters school, they quickly run afoul of classroom rules and find themselves friendless, but they also find that they possess imagination, resilience, and the power to define ‘the bright side’ for themselves .

Nothing less than an appreciative soul who most of us, myself included, could never imagine existed. What I love the most about this book is that it’s not exactly a romance but rather a story about life.
